Board of Directors

Led by the Chairman, CSA’s volunteer Board of Directors sets our direction, takes responsibility for financial decisions and performance, and is accountable for achieving the society’s objectives. The Board of Directors comprises the CSA President and two members (vacant) selected through recommendations from the Calgary sports community.

Officers

Led by the CSA President, the officers group delivers on the association’s mandate as defined by the Board of Directors. The officers possess diverse skill sets, experience, and areas of influence that are critical in helping us build our community and achieve our objectives.

Project organizing committee

Project teams are constituted from time to time by the officers group to support the execution of projects, including tournaments, grant applications, capital and operational projects.

Board Position: President

Michael Olugbenga is the founding President of Community Soccer Association. Michael’s experience as a soccer player, tournament organizer and community leader spans over 3 decades. Born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria and started playing street soccer at the early age of 5 before moving to Calgary in 2013. Michael is an ardent believer in the efficacy of sports as a unifier hence the establishment of Community Soccer Association to complement the amazing work of various organizations on the path of sports development and community engagement.

 

Outside of CSA, Gbenga is a Certified Internal Auditor and works as a Risk Assurance Manager for a leading accounting and business advisory firm.

Board Position: Director of Finance

Daniella is a highly skilled professional with over 10 years of impactful Canadian accounting experience and an MBA degree, specializing in Finance. She has contributed to the advancement of various Non-Profit Organizations through excellent financial management, organizational growth, and strategic acumen throughout her career. However , her true passion lies in helping small businesses and Non-profit organizations understand and manage their finances effectively.

Nadine Niba

Board Position: Director, Community Impact & Relations

Nadine’s passion for community development was born when she became a beauty Queen at age 21 and plunged herself into working with various NGOs in west Africa on community development initiatives. Her work in this space earned her an award from Junior Chamber International in partnership with the British High Commission as the most outstanding young Cameroonian. She eventually was offered a scholarship by Coady international institute in Nova Scotia Canada to study community development leadership where she got to meet and interact with leaders from developing countries in Africa who shared a common passion for development across Africa.

Since becoming a Canadian CPA, Nadine has expounded this platform to focus on financial education, community development and mentorship amongst Immigrants in Canada. This drives her commitment to be part of boards of non-profits who share a similar goal where she can contribute her knowledge and expertise towards community building and development.

Tolu Lawrence Akinshete 

Board Position: Director, Communications & Media

Tolu’s professional experience spans different countries and cuts across corporate banking, real estate and the retail technology sectors. Over the years, he has acquired a valuable skills set that will serve him well in this role with the Community Soccer Association.

 

He is passionate about grass-roots development and has at various times volunteered time and other resources through organizations like Apple and Benevity in this regard.

 

Tolu is also an established freelance writer who views this creative outlet has more of a lifestyle, with over a thousand articles published through various online media.
